Originating from the vibrant music scene of South Africa, Seether is a powerhouse trio consisting of Shaun Morgan on vocals and guitar, Dale Stewart on bass, and John Humphrey on drums. Their sound embodies the essence of heavy metal intertwined with the post-grunge aesthetics of alternative music, characterized by richly textured layers and raw, emotive vocals.
The band’s journey began in 1999 under the moniker Saron Gas, inspired by a serendipitous encounter with a sound effects CD. Their debut album, Fragile, hit the shelves the following year under Musketeer Records, quickly garnering attention and chart success in a music landscape dominated by pop and indigenous sounds.
Recognizing their immense potential, the U.S.-based Wind Up Records swiftly signed the South African trio. In a nod to their global aspirations and to avoid any unintended associations, the band underwent a name change, emerging as Seether.
Since then, Seether has captivated audiences worldwide with their distinctive sound and impassioned performances, solidifying their status as a force to be reckoned with in the realm of alternative metal. With each album release, they continue to push boundaries and defy expectations, leaving an indelible mark on the music industry.
